Tamiya 1/35 German FLAK 37 SD.KFZ. 7/2

Description

As WWII progressed, the German forces lost their air superiority amid fierce Allied raids in the sky. Looking to bolster their ground to air defense, they developed a self propelled anti-aircraft gun that was based upon tanks and half-track vehicles. The 8ton half-track (Sd.Kfz.7/2) was one of those such weapons. Although the half-track chassis had a proven track record towing 88mm guns, it was now fitted with its own 3.7cm anti-aircraft cannon that could fire 160 rounds per minute. Produced from 1943, later variants were also fitted with armor on the driver seat and radiator. Overall, 123 Sd.Kfz. 7/2s were produced and in addition to deployment with Luftwaffe anti-aircraft units, they were also armed with the 3.7cm Stielgranate 41 and used in the anti-tank role. This kit accurately captures the functional form of the vehicle, including a realistic depiction of the complex half-track suspension. It may be assembled with its tailgate in raised or lowered position. Plastic netting is also included to raise realism. The 3.7cm anti-aircraft cannon features excellent attention to detail, right down to the breech and mount. Includes explosive and armor piercing shell parts.
